A Brief History of Everything
When our interior development meets a changing exterior world.
Friday, November 6 or 13, 2026 · 9:00 AM–1:30 PM · Open Book in Minneapolis · ~15 people · In person · Lunch included · $75 · Request an invite
No PowerPoints. No screens. No workbooks. No cringy icebreakers.
Just ~15 interesting humans, a mostly blank 6' × 9' wall, several thousand years of human development to explore, and a Friday morning to see what we can see together.

This probably isn't your Friday if...
Your primary goal is to generate a short-term financial return first thing Monday morning.
We're not going to teach you how to squeeze more from a spreadsheet. And the odds that the person sitting beside you becomes your dream client by Saturday morning aren't particularly high.
But ambition, achievement, networking, revenue, status, and the wonderfully human question "Okay, but how do I use this?" aren't forbidden here.
Quite the opposite.
Those impulses become interesting when we can see them.
They, too, have a place on the map.

Because the room is part of the curriculum.
There are 15 seats, and we're not trying to fill them with 15 versions of the same person.
We're not selecting for seniority, impressive titles, or people who already know this material.
We're curating for mix.
Different ages. Different kinds of work. Different perspectives. Different levels of organizational responsibility. People building tools and people deciding how they're used. People inside large organizations and people building something of their own.
Every person should have as much potential to contribute to the room as they have to receive from it.
That's why the first step isn't registration.
Open Book | 1011 Washington Avenue S
There are conversations that work beautifully on a screen. This is not one of them.
Because you—and this—are too important to be collapsed into two dimensions.
We'll gather at Open Book, a Minneapolis home for books, art, ideas, creativity, conversation, and collaboration. It feels like the right kind of place to spend a Friday thinking about some very big things together.
And we'll be there in person.
If the medium is part of the message, the message on this Friday is: share some space.
Hear someone's words and notice their body language. Get up and move toward the wall when something catches your attention. Eat lunch together. Let conversations spill over. Draw connections. Disagree. Laugh.
Be somewhere, with some people, for a while.
We need the third dimension.
Where will it be—and why in person?
Meet Your Facilitator
Tim Schuster
I'm not an expert in human consciousness. And I'm not claiming special authority. I'm certified in just about nothing.
But I've facilitated versions of this exploration with more than 20 groups over the past decade, and I learn something new every time.
I love having a front-row seat when someone encounters an idea that challenges them, comforts them, wakes something up in them—or simply gives them language for something they've sensed for years.
The ideas we'll explore have evidence and scholarship underneath them. But I'm not interested in spending Friday morning reciting facts or flipping through slides.
I'm interested in what happens when those ideas meet your experience, your context, and your personal narrative.
That's where things tend to get interesting.
Request An Invite
1. Request an invite. Tell us a little about yourself and why this Friday sounds interesting.
2. We'll compose the room. We'll build a group of 15 people whose differences can contribute to one another's learning. This isn't gatekeeping for gatekeeping's sake. There is no ideal résumé.
The mix is the point.
3. If invited, claim your seat. You'll receive the details, see a little about who else is joining us, and pay the $75 to confirm your spot.
Then your job is simple: Show up curious on Friday morning.
We'll see what we can do together.
